Highlights
  • City bus 15 links the airport, KTEL station, San Rocco Square and port
  • No direct bus to the resorts: change at the KTEL intercity station
  • Late arrival? Book a transfer or plan on a taxi

The cheapest Corfu airport transfer is city bus 15 to Corfu Town and the port, about €1.20 to €1.30 in advance or around €2 on board (October 2026). For resorts, take a taxi, pre-booked transfer or hire car, or bus 15 to the KTEL station and an intercity bus.

Corfu airport sits only about 2 to 3 kilometres from Corfu Town, so getting into town is quick and cheap: city bus line 15 runs from the airport to the intercity bus station, San Rocco Square and the port for a fare of little more than a euro, and a taxi takes around 10 to 15 minutes. Reaching the resorts is where planning matters, because there is no direct bus from the airport to Sidari, Kassiopi, Kavos or the west coast. Your realistic options are a taxi, a pre-booked transfer, a hire car, or the city bus to the KTEL station followed by an intercity bus. Bus details below were checked on the operators’ websites in October 2026.

Quick facts

  • Airport: Corfu International Airport “Ioannis Kapodistrias” (CFU), operated by Fraport Greece.
  • Distance to Corfu Town: about 2 to 3 km, roughly 10 to 15 minutes by road.
  • Cheapest option: city bus line 15, about €1.20 to €1.30 bought in advance, around €2 bought on board (October 2026).
  • To resorts: taxi, pre-booked transfer or hire car; or bus 15 to the KTEL station, then a green intercity bus.
  • Late arrivals: plan on a taxi or pre-booked transfer.

Option 1: City bus line 15

Corfu’s city buses (the blue buses, run by Astiko KTEL Kerkyras) operate line 15 between the airport and the port. According to the operator, the route runs from the airport to the intercity (KTEL) bus station, then to San Rocco Square (Sarocco) in the centre of Corfu Town, and on to the port, with two stops inside the port area, one of them behind the ferry ticket offices, before ending at the passenger terminal used by cruise ships and Albania ferries. In the opposite direction it runs from the port through the centre and San Rocco Square, past the KTEL station and back to the airport.

Fares

In October 2026, the operator’s airport page listed a regular ticket at €1.20 and a ticket bought on board at €2.00, while its general fares page listed a Zone A single at €1.30. Either way, buying in advance is cheaper than paying on the bus. A day ticket valid on the city network costs €5. Tickets are sold at kiosks and booths near stops and from self-service machines at San Rocco Square and other central stops, where card payment is accepted. If you cannot find a ticket outlet at the airport, pay on board and carry small change.

Timetable

Line 15 does not run around the clock, and its frequency changes with the season and day of the week. A new passenger timetable came into force on 28 September 2026, and the operator updates schedules regularly, so check the current timetable on the Astiko KTEL Kerkyras website before you travel. If your flight lands late in the evening, do not count on catching a bus.

Is it practical?

For travellers with a backpack or a small case who are staying in Corfu Town, line 15 is the obvious choice. The journey takes around 10 to 20 minutes depending on traffic and your stop. With large suitcases or small children it is less comfortable, as these are regular city buses rather than airport coaches, and they can be crowded in summer.

Option 2: Taxi

Taxis wait at the rank outside the arrivals hall. In high season, when several flights land at once, there can be a queue, and on peak summer Saturdays the wait can be long. Taxis in Greece run on meters, and a higher night tariff applies in the early hours. We could not find an official fixed price list for Corfu airport fares, so ask the driver for an estimate before you set off, particularly for longer trips to the resorts. The ride into Corfu Town is short and relatively inexpensive; journeys to Kassiopi, Sidari, Paleokastritsa or Kavos cost several times more because of the distance and winding roads.

Taxis take cards in many cases, but not always. Ask before the journey starts if you plan to pay by card.

Option 3: Pre-booked private transfer

A pre-booked transfer means a driver meets you in arrivals with a name sign and takes you straight to your accommodation at a price agreed in advance. This is the most stress-free option for late arrivals, for families with car seats to arrange and for groups, where the cost per person can be close to a bus fare. Compare what is included: waiting time if the flight is delayed, luggage allowance, child seats and the cancellation policy. Book only with licensed operators and keep the confirmation and the driver’s phone number to hand.

If you are on a package holiday, your tour operator’s coach transfer will usually be included. These coaches drop off at several hotels on a route, so the journey can take much longer than the distance suggests.

Option 4: Hire car

Car hire desks are in the arrivals area, and many local companies deliver cars to the airport car park or meet you outside. Picking up at the airport makes sense if you are staying anywhere outside Corfu Town and plan to explore. As a rough guide, allow around an hour to the northeast coast or Sidari, around 40 minutes to Paleokastritsa, and a little over an hour to Kavos, longer in summer traffic. Corfu’s roads are narrow and winding, so a small car is easier to drive and park. Check fuel policy and insurance excess carefully before signing.

If you are staying in Corfu Town itself, a car is more hindrance than help, as parking in and around the Old Town is limited. Consider picking one up later in your stay instead.

Option 5: Bus to the KTEL station, then intercity bus

The green intercity buses of KTEL Kerkyras link Corfu Town with resorts and villages across the island. They do not serve the airport directly, but city bus line 15 stops at the intercity bus station, so you can connect there. Note that city bus tickets and KTEL tickets are separate and not interchangeable.

KTEL routes include, among others, A2 to Sidari, A3 to Roda and Acharavi, A4 to Kassiopi and A9 to Paleokastritsa in the north, and B1 to Kavos and B17 to Glyfada in the south. Tickets for these routes can be bought online through the KTEL ticketing portal, at the station ticket office, or on board, where the company says bank cards and mobile payments are accepted. New KTEL timetables took effect on 17 October 2026, and services are noticeably reduced outside the summer season, so always check times before relying on a connection. The KTEL call centre is on +30 26610 28900.

This option is the cheapest way to reach the resorts and works well in daylight with light luggage. It is not realistic after an evening arrival, when the last intercity departures may have gone.

Option 6: City buses to nearby resorts

For resorts close to Corfu Town, the blue city buses are often more useful than KTEL. From San Rocco Square and nearby stops, line 7 runs to Kontokali, Gouvia, Dasia and Ipsos; line 6 serves Perama and Benitses; line 10 goes to the Achilleion; line 11 to Pelekas; line 2 to Kanoni. Take line 15 into town, then change. Check the operator’s website for current timetables.

Walking

The airport is close enough to walk into Corfu Town, about 3 km, but most of the route runs along busy main roads with little to enjoy. It is only worth considering with light luggage, in daylight and outside the heat of summer.

Which option suits you

Situation Best option
Staying in Corfu Town, light luggage, daytime City bus 15
Staying in Corfu Town, late arrival Taxi
Staying in a distant resort, family or group Pre-booked transfer or hire car
Exploring the island independently Hire car from the airport
Tight budget, daytime arrival Bus 15 to the KTEL station, then intercity bus
Heading straight to a ferry Bus 15 to the port, or taxi

Practical tips

  • Check timetables the day before. Both bus companies change schedules several times a year; the October 2026 changes are a reminder that what you read online may be out of date.
  • Carry some cash. Useful for paying on board city buses and for taxis that do not accept cards.
  • Download an offline map. Bus stops in Corfu Town are not always obvious, and San Rocco Square is busy.
  • Allow time for departures. Corfu airport is small but very busy on summer weekends. Leave extra time if you are travelling by bus, as traffic around town can be slow.
  • Heading to the ferry? Line 15 ends at the port, which makes it handy for ferries to Paxos, Igoumenitsa and Albania.
